As part of the Premiere final event, we will offer a live VR streaming of Re-embodied Machine, presenting a new modality of attending a performance.
This live event consists of a virtual version of the performance that will be presented in Coliseu, showcasing a live VR broadcast into the space of Coliseu. It incorporates capturing and streaming technologies of both motion and audiovisual elements, presenting the outcomes of a three-year research project exploring how XR technologies can extend the stage.
The research, conducted by CYENS in collaboration with theatre and dance venues across Europe, explored the potential of giving digital expression to a performing arts work by capturing a live dance piece and transmitting it into immersive virtual spaces. Investigating these new performative modalities of space and interaction, our work progressed from motion capture to performance capture, enabling the integration of delicate creative elements – such as laser lights – within the virtual environment.
Streamed via the 3D Virtual Theatre on YouTube
The VR streaming will take place through the 3D Virtual Theatre, developed by Premiere to support various aspects of the performing arts lifecycle. This platform allows performances to be streamed to multiple users and locations, enabling a rich and interactive experience. The environment integrates technologies such as 3D modelling and animation, 3D scene editing, and multiuser functionality, and was developed to meet the needs of venues seeking accessible and affordable solutions.
To be streamed on our YouTube channel as a 360° video, with the option to view it through VR headsets.
The VR recording of the Re-embodied Machine performance is now available in YouTube, as it was streamed live, during the Premiere Final Event. Skip the first 30 min. to reach the beggining of the perofmance.
